ScaleWolf, Telecentras, Elbit Systems, Granta Autonomy and AMI WINGS Demonstrated Operational Low-Altitude Airspace Surveillance System in Lithuania

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Juragiai, Kaunas District, Lithuania – 26 May 2026
In response to the growing security challenges in the Baltic region, ScaleWolf, together with Telecentras, Elbit Systems, Granta Autonomy and AMI WINGS, demonstrated a fully operational low-altitude airspace surveillance system designed to detect, track and identify unmanned aerial vehicles and other low-flying objects under real field conditions.

The live demonstration took place at and around the Juragiai Radio and Television Transmission Station. The system was tested in the field using real drones, ranging from small commercial UAVs to aircraft simulating Shahed-type loitering munition threats.

The demonstrated solution operates through integrated layers: early detection, tracking and identification, command and control, and operational decision support. During the demonstration, participants observed how different sensors and system components can create a shared low-altitude airspace picture and support faster responses to a wide spectrum of aerial threats.

The event took place in a highly relevant security context. According to publicly reported information, NATO air policing fighter jets were scrambled 12 times in the Baltic region last week, underlining the urgent need for solutions that are not theoretical, but real, tested and ready to deploy.
The demonstration was attended by representatives of the Government of Lithuania, the Office of the President, the Seimas, the defence sector and allied embassies. Remarks were delivered by Speaker of the Seimas Juozas Olekas, Minister of Transport and Communications Juras Taminskas, and Israeli Ambassador to Lithuania Shelly Hugler Livne.

“This demonstration proves that defence capability can be built in Lithuania – together with international partners, Lithuanian technology companies and national infrastructure. Low-altitude airspace protection is no longer a future requirement. It is an immediate need that demands operational solutions, political backing and trusted partnerships,” said Edvinas Kerza, Managing Partner at ScaleWolf.

Telecentras’ infrastructure played an important role in the demonstration. High engineering structures and existing national infrastructure provide practical conditions to assess how such assets could support low-altitude airspace monitoring and critical infrastructure protection.

The solution presented by Elbit Systems is based on a multi-layered sensor architecture capable of detecting, classifying and tracking different types of low-flying objects. Lithuanian defence technology companies, including Granta Autonomy, contributed to practical testing and threat scenario validation, ensuring that the system was assessed against real operational conditions rather than only laboratory parameters.

According to the organisers, such demonstrations are essential to shortening the path from technology to operational capability. Modern threats evolve faster than traditional procurement and decision-making cycles. Lithuania therefore needs an environment where innovative defence solutions can be rapidly tested, validated and, where needed, integrated into the national defence architecture.
